Injectables Q & A

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a cosmetic treatment that decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It specifically targets areas of the skin that have lost their natural elasticity. Collagen and elastin are responsible for making the skin look plump and youthful. As we age, collagen and elastin in the skin gradually start to decrease, causing the skin to wrinkle and sag. Injectable fillers use gel-like substances to replenish the skin.

Just For Your Smile offers a wide range of injectable neuromodulators, including BOTOX®, Xeomin®, and Dysport®. PRGF® (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) and mesotherapy are other skin rejuvenation treatments. PRGF uses growth factors from the patient’s own blood to promote collagen production and mesotherapy infused skin-tightening enzymes, vitamins, and hormones into the skin with cannulas, special needles that lessen the chance of bruising.

Just For Your Smile also provides Aquagold® Fine Touch™, microchanneling for the whole face and neck. The innovative device delivers products such as PRGF, fillers, or retinol directly into the skin with 24 karat needles.

Aquagold is a great choice for patients looking to subtly minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. This treatment has natural-looking, soft results without drastically changing a person’s appearance. The skin may look slightly red or bruised right after treatment, by these side effects typically subside within a couple of days after treatment.

What Can Dermal Fillers Treat?

A balance between the face and lips enhances a smile and rejuvenates the skin. After the providers at Just For Your Smile perform a careful assessment, they use advanced technology and products to deliver a balanced proportion to the lips and face.

Injectables fillers traditionally were used to treat static wrinkles一 lines and folders that form from lost volume一 while wrinkles that form from repeated muscle movement, dynamic wrinkles, are treated with neuromodulators.

Volume loss can occur for various reasons, including bone resorption, fat shrinkage, gravity, stress, and lifestyle habits. That is why we are proud to offer different kinds of fillers like Restylane Lyft (Perlane), Restylane-L, Defyne, Refyne, Kysse, and the RHA® Collection. RHA is approved to treat dynamic wrinkles.

Some fillers can make the skin appear stiff and immobile when injected into static wrinkles. The wide selection of Restylane products and RHA collection combat unwanted side effects with a proprietary hyaluronic acid formula designed by Swiss scientists. Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like substance that naturally occurs in the body.

The Filler Collection treats nearly any type of facial wrinkle and crease, including:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Smile lines
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Marionette lines

Injectable fillers enhance the appearance of your smile and balance the facial symmetry by supporting saggy skin and filling folds or undesired wrinkles. Fillers also are able to subtly plump the lips for a fuller look.

Neuromodulators reduce the appearance of:

  • Frown lines
  • Bunny lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Gummy smiles
  • Pebbled skin
  • Depressed corners of the mouth

Neuromodulators are also used at Just For Your Smile to relieve jaw pain, tension headaches, and pain from teeth clenching. In addition to injectable neuromodulators, we also offer custom-made nightguards.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Just For Your Smile’s experienced cosmetic dentists use anesthetics and numbing agents to ensure your injections are as comfortable as possible. We use small needles and microcannula for a more comfortable, safer injection, and lessen the chance of bruising. Receiving dermal fillers shouldn’t be painful, but the injection itself can cause slight discomfort.

After treatment, it is common to experience minor swelling and redness at the injection site. However, this should subside within a few days after treatment.

How soon will I see results from dermal fillers?

Injectable fillers provide instant results; unlike neuromodulators, which can take a few days to two weeks to show results. Your skin should appear smoother and more radiant as soon as your treatment is complete.

How long do results from dermal filler last?

Dermal fillers usually last for 6-18 months. The longevity of injectable fillers depends on the patient’s metabolism and lifestyle. Once the results start to fade, you may come back twice a year after the initial treatment for follow-ups and touch-ups to maintain optimal results.
